The Artists and Makers of Rushmore
Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th November 2006

The Larmer Tree Gardens, Tollard Royal

2.00-6.00pm
Free admission

Francis Russell Designs are participating in an exhibition to promote the Artists and Makers of Rushmore. The exhibition will also feature the work of James Winby - master cabinet-maker and William Walker - glass maker.

This exhibition is a rare opportunity to meet the artists and view their work in the unique environment of the Larmer Tree Gardens. The range of product and associated skill on show will be world-class and included previously commissioned pieces kindly loaned for the exhibition. The artists will be availble to discuss their range of work and to discuss any requirements for commissioned pieces.

The exhibition is kindly hosted by the incumbent of the Rushmore Estate and the patron behind the Rushmore Farm development, William Gronow Davis.

He writes:

"The Rushmore Estate has pioneered diversification. The Larmer Tree Gardens, created by General Pitt Rivers in 1880 as a pleasure ground for 'public enlightenment and entertainment', are the foundation for the spirit of philanthropy that continues today. On my invitation three skilled craftsmen now have workshops at Rushmore Farm. The concept has developed organically and the exchange of ideas, technology and skills has developed far beyond a simple grouping of businesses under one roof. this is a unique model which is pushing traditional boundaries of individual skill and which has led to a centre of excellence. This not only maintains the traditional crafts essential to the maintenance of this estate past and present, but also reaches beyond to serve a brader community. In essence, the Rushmore Farm development is representative of the Rushmore Estate as modern and progressive, as well as encouraging patronage of rural business and craft."
